Upham's Corner Apartment Complex
To gain a comprehensive understanding of my building, it’s essential to grasp the distinctive features of my units, which occupy the majority of floors 2 through 7. These units boast an open-ended layout, with a corridor appearing every three floors. This design facilitates the presence of balconies on both sides of each unit. The southern side of the building features a concave design to safeguard privacy in this bustling urban area, while the northern side extends outward, providing a connection to the adjacent residential neighborhood. Notably, there are some atypical units, such as the 2nd floor of the northernmost bar, which was removed to create a shared outdoor space for all north building residents. Similarly, the 7th floor of the southern building was reconfigured to offer a rooftop greenspace for its occupants. The vacated spaces on the 3rd and 6th floors were transformed into cozy studio apartments. These outdoor areas not only provide relaxation spots but also family-friendly zones that prioritize safety. The 1st floor of the southern building is dedicated to public resources for the community, housing facilities like a gym and daycare. Conversely, the 1st floor of the northern building is exclusively reserved for the private use of its residents. At the heart of the passageway that connects the two buildings lies a strategically placed playground, and greenspace providing a communal space that offers both greenery and a public recreational area, ensuring the safety and enjoyment of the community.
